MORE PICTURES: Explosion as van fire spreads to new homes in Sudbury

Firefighters have been tackling a vehicle blaze this morning which then spread to a new home being built in Alder Way, Sudbury.

Two appliances attended after calls were made at 8.11am, one from Sudbury and one from Long Melford. A third vehicle was called but was stood down.

Two vans were completely ablaze and the fire then spread to scaffolding on a property being built. There were also reports of explosions being heard.

The fires were extinguished by 9.05am, with crew members using general pumps, water jets and breathing apparatus.

An ambulance was called and was put on standby but it is not believed that there were any injuries.
