The Christmas lights in Long Melford were switched on by parish council chairman Peter Turner at a small ceremony on Friday evening.
Mr Turner was assisted by five-year-old Oscar Allen, who won a Christmas poster competition at the village primary school.
All the trees in the village, including the main tree on Lower Green, had new LED lights, paid for from the profits of the village’s popular street fair.
While the ceremony was a fun occasion, the setting up proved a difficult affair.
Parish councillors John Nunn and Spud Dudden, alongside volunteers from the village fire brigade, got soaked as they attempted to put up the lights.
