A map highlighting places that renowned Sudbury artist Thomas Gainsborough painted - and which inspired him to paint - is to be launched in March.
The artist’s trail map will showing locations in and around Sudbury that would be been prominent in the artist’s lifetime and places that he visited to paint.
The idea came about after a survey carried out by staff at the artist’s birthplace musum, Gainsborough’s House. It focused on visitor statistics showing how many people chose to stay in the town after their museum visit.
The map has been produced as an initiative to encourage more tourism, and to help put Gainsborough country on the map. It will be available from the museum and Tourist Information Centre on March 5 featuring an annotated walking tour around the town.
