Man arrested in connection with robbery at home of 70-year-old woman in Cavendish
The investigation into an overnight robbery at the home of a 70-year-old woman in Cavendish has led to the arrest of a man in connection with the incident.
Police enquiries are ongoing into the incident, which occurred just after midnight on Thursday, April 16, when three male offenders entered a property in Nether Road.
The victim was awoken in her bedroom by one of the man holding his hands firmly over her mouth and demanding property, while the two other men carried out an untidy search of her home.
She was able to scream for help after a short time, alerting a neighbour who came to her assistance, prompting all three men to flee the scene.
It is unknown if anything was stolen at this time, while the woman was left extremely shaken but unhurt by the incident.
Subsequently, officers from the Metropolitan Police were directed by detectives in Suffolk to attend an address in Ilford yesterday, where they located and arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of robbery.
The suspect has been taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, although no formal charges have been made at this time.
Suffolk Police is continuing to appeal for information from anybody who was in Cavendish between 10pm on April 15 and 1am on April 16 and saw any suspicious activity.
