Man arrested during Essex drugs raids

A man from Sudbury has been charged with drug offences after a number arrests were made following investigations in Essex by specialist organised crime officers.

Thomas Hart, 25, of Cavendish Way, Sudbury, was one of four men to be charged with offences including conspiracy to supply Class A drugs after 26kg of cocaine and other controlled substances were seized by police.

Carrying a street value of more than £1 million the drugs were recovered during a raid by detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Organised Crime Command on Thursday, 7 May.

They were seized from a farm in Chelmsford, a residential address in Basildon and a van stopped by police in the Wickford area of Essex.

The four men are further charged with conspiracy to supply ketamine and cannabis.

They have been remanded in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, May 9.

Hart will next appear on May 22, at Southwark Crown Court.

The three other men charged are Jason Parker, 40, of no fixed abode, Essex; Paul Bovill, 58, of Runnell Road, Wickford; and Lee Maddin, 39, of Fifth Avenue, Basildon.
