A man has been arrested after a second rape in Hadleigh in just over a week.

A woman was raped in a car park behind Gray’s chip shop in Angel Street at around 12.30am on Saturday.

Later that day, a 43-year-old man from Hadleigh was arrested on suspicion of rape.

He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where he was interviewed by detectives before being released on police bail to return on May 6. He is believed to be known to the victim.

A spokesman for Suffolk Police said the attack was not being linked to another rape in Tayler Road on Friday, March 14.

Anyone with information on either incident should contact Suffolk Police on 101.
