Man arrested after cash machine stolen in Sudbury ram raid

A 27-year-old man has been arrested following a burglary at the BP petrol station shop in Northern Road in Sudbury in the early hours of this morning (February 9) where a cashpoint machine was stolen.

Officers were alerted around 2.40am to reports of a ram raid at the premises on the Chilton Industrial Estate.

Police arrived and found the ATM had been taken, however, the cashpoint machine was empty at the time and no cash was stolen.

The cashpoint machine has now been located in Maldon in Essex and a 27-year-old man has been arrested in the county on suspicion of burglary.

He will be taken into custody in Essex where he will be interviewed in connection with the raid.

Suffolk Police are continuing to ask anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the Northern Road area of Sudbury around this time this morning or anyone with information about those involved to call Suffolk Police on 101, quoting CAD number 16 of today, Tuesday 9, or to call Crimestoppers, anonymously if required, on 0800 555 111.
