A care home assistant in Long Melford has won a regional award for going above and beyond her duties.

Grace Watson, who works at Melford Court Care Home, in Hall Street, scooped the Care Home Worker accolade at the East of England Care Awards.

“I am delighted to have won this award – I can’t believe it,” said Grace. “ I could not have done it without the support from my management team who I cannot thank enough.”

Colleagues described her as “forward thinking and passionate”.

Ruth French, director at Stow Healthcare, praised her achievement.

“Grace is an outstanding carer who brings love and laughter to her role every day,” she said. “Her huge warmth makes her a real favourite with residents and families alike and we are delighted that she has been recognised by the Great British Care Awards as one of the very best of her profession in the UK.”
