Gym staff hope to get people pumped-up about the benefits of a healthy heart when they run an event for charity.

Chris Grimwood and his team at Peake Fitness gym at Stoke-by-Nayland Hotel, Golf & Spa in Leavenheath, are staging a Healthy Heart open evening on February 28 for anyone to go along to learn more about heart health.

The event is designed to promote the importance of healthy living and includes a heart rate demonstration, cholesterol testing and body composition analysis to find out things like body fat percentage and hydration levels.

Leisure club manager Mr Grimwood said: “We will have a nutrition specialist there on the night, and our kitchen is putting on a spread of food that is good for the heart.”

The hotel is running a promotion during February for new members, with the gym joining fee being donated to the British Heart Foundation.

Gym members and staff are also taking part in a 24-hour sponsored cycle from 10am on March 1 in aid of the mental health charity Suffolk Mind.

Mr Grimwood added: “A cycle is being set up in the hotel foyer and anyone can book a slot to cycle for charity. We’ll also have prizes for achievement.”

The open evening runs from 7pm to 9pm.
