A church lay minister has been fined after being found guilty of benefit fraud.

On Monday, Malcolm Graham from The Street, Foxearth, was found guilty of two offences at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that between November 1, 2011, and July 20, 2014, the 55-year-old failed to promptly notify that he had commenced employment which affected his entitlement to Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit.

Graham was ordered to pay a £750 fine, £750 costs and a £75 victim surcharge.
