The community of Lamarsh will celebrate the official grand re-opening of the Lion pub this weekend, following a two-year campaign to restore it under community ownership.

The pub will host a special celebration on Saturday from noon, featuring live music, a barbecue and a hog roast, to mark the return of the business after two years of closure.

The Lion underwent a major renovation after it was purchased by Lamarsh Lion Community Pub Ltd, which raised hundreds of thousands of pounds by selling shares at £50 each.

Committee member Niki Henderson said: “Having been involved in refurbishing the pub, I have been thrilled at how many people from surrounding villages have also been inspired to help and support us.”
