PREPARATIONS to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee are already under way in Bulmer.
Children from the village’s St Andrew’s Primary School were joined by parish councillors at Plough Green to plant an oak tree.
Parish council clerk Hannah Fraser said: “We have planted it now because it is the right time of year for planting and, once the Jubilee comes around in June, we will hopefully have a plaque there too.
“We are hoping the whole village will be involved in the celebrations in the summer.
“There will be a public meeting to decide what form the celebrations will take.”
The oak tree was given to the village by Braintree District Council under its Green Heart scheme to promote environment awareness and to mark the Jubilee.
