AN inquest has been opened into the death of an eight-year-old boy from Sudbury.

Joel Depper, who went to Tudor Primary School and lived in Uplands Road, died in hospital on February 12 after the car he was travelling in – believed to have been driven by his mother – hit a tree on the A14 near Stow-cum-Quy.

The driver and another passenger, believed to be Joel’s seven-year-old brother Ollie, received minor injuries in the accident.

A preliminary inquest by the Cambridgeshire coroner’s office was opened last week. A full hearing will be held at a later date.
