Hunt for man serving attempted murder sentence launched after absconding from Suffolk prison

Suffolk Police are appealing for help in tracing a Hollesley Bay prisoner serving an indeterminate sentence for attempted murder who absconded overnight and maybe anywhere in the county.

Police were contacted around 8.40am this morning, Monday 8 August, reporting Gavin Owens, 33, as missing. The last confirmed sighting of him at the prison was at 11pm last night, Sunday 7 August.

Owens was serving an indeterminate sentence for attempted murder, GBH and ABH.

Owens, also known as Gavin Burrell, is described as white, around 5ft 11ins tall, of medium build, with green eyes and very short brown hair. He has several tattoos including a Celtic band on his right upper arm.

He has links to the Hinckley area of Leicestershire.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen him or anyone with information about where he is now to contact officers. You should not approach him or take any further action.
