Organisers of an annual fund-raising event are encouraging more women to sign up to take part this weekend.

Race for Life Bury St Edmunds was postponed due to flooding last month but is due to take place this coming Sunday, July 31, at Nowton Park.

Thousands of women and children are expected to complete 5k and 10k circuits, many in eye-catching pink T-shirts and fancy dress, to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Leander Platten, event organiser for Race for Life in Suffolk, said: “We need another 400 people to hit our fund-raising target and this is the final race in the region this year so the last chance to do it.”
