Hope soap will inspire town

RESIDENTS in Sudbury are being urged to follow the lead of characters in one of the country’s favourite television soaps.

Characters in Coronation Street are currently going to great lengths to get their hands on a sought-after floral prize – and Sudbury Town Council is hoping its residents will show the same enthusiasm and enter The Pride of Sudbury Awards 2012.

“The storyline on Coronation Street has been hilarious, with residents taking the competition very seriously,” said town council clerk Sue Brotherwood. “And with the launch of the Pride of Sudbury Competition, the storyline couldn’t have come at a better time and I just hope it helps to trigger more interest.”

The contest, which is being run by the Sudbury in Bloom committee, includes categories for best kept garden, best school, best community garden and best novice garden.

Each garden will be judged on its design, floral content, imagination and encouragement of wildlife and conservation.

Entry forms are available from Sudbury Town Hall.
