Staff and residents at Hanover Court in Sudbury have celebrated the sheltered housing scheme’s 25th anniversary.

Sudbury mayor and mayoress Adrian and Jan Osborne paid a visit to the scheme in Blackfriars on Thursday for a tea party and darts match, where the mayor lined up on the oche alongside 90-year-old Mary Pearson, who said she thoroughly enjoyed the day.

“The party was really special and a fantastic surprise,” she said. “Although the mayor is a fine darts player, I think that I may have taught him a lesson or two.”

The scheme regularly runs activities for residents, including bingo, coffee mornings and days out.
