LAVENHAM was “buzzing” as car enthusiasts from all over Europe descended on the village for a vintage Volkswagen show on Saturday.
About 160 vehicles, all built before 1967, took over the market place, First Meadow and part of the recreation ground as visitors from as far afield as Portugal, Spain, France and Italy flocked to the village to take pictures and chat with fellow petrol-heads.
Philip Gibson, a parish councillor who helped organise the event, said: “It was an absolutely superb show. They brought about 100 cars when they were here four years ago and this year there were about 160.”
Exhibitors enjoyed a meal at Lavenham village hall on Saturday evening before leaving on Sunday.
“The village was buzzing, vast numbers of people came out,” added Mr Gibson.
“All the pubs and shops were very busy and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.”
“They have indicated they would love to come back in four years’ time.”
