Air ambulance to fly at night

The East Anglian Air Ambulance has been given permission to respond to incidents at night.

It means the charity will be the first in the country to operate a dedicated night-time air ambulance, pushing its running costs up by £1.8million per year to £6million.

The decision will enable it to land at unknown and unlit sites, while also giving it the potential to operate a 24-hour service.
