Harvey leaves £1K in will for cricket club

It recently emerged that a disabled man from Long Melford who died last year left £1,000 in his will for the village cricket club.

Harvey Florence died aged 82 on December 4.

He was a long-time supporter of Long Melford’s cricket and football clubs.

A popular member of the local community, a service of songs of praise was held for him following his death.

After it was announced he had left £1,000 for the village cricket club in his will, Richard Kemp, club president, gave his thanks.

“The people of Melford and the cricket club are extremely grateful to this real gentleman. He overcame everything in his life despite his disabilities and supported sport in the village. We would like to say thank you for his generosity.”
