More than 100 children crowded excitedly into Hadleigh Library to be awarded their certificates and medals for completing this year’s Suffolk reading Challenge.
Hadleigh Babergh District councillor Kathryn Grandon was on hand out to give out the certificates to the 140 children who completed the Summer Reading Challenge this year.
The Hadleigh youngsters helped to break Suffolk Library’s previous record, with 8,200 children finishing the challenge, where children across the county were asked to read at least six books.
“I was delighted to be asked to make the presentation to the children,” said Mrs Grandon.
“The Summer Reading Challenge is quite a long tradition. I remember my children enthusiastically taking part and it encouraged them to be keen readers. I am so pleased to see the Summer Reading Challenge is still enjoyed by so many children.”
