COMMUNITY groups across Babergh have received more than £18,000 of much-needed funds as part of a grant programme.
The Babergh East Local Strategic Partnership (LSP), which looks to contribute to community planning, has provided grants to various projects after bids were sought from parish councils and community groups.
Among the beneficiaries was the Porch Project in Hadleigh, which received £1,280 towards games consoles and equipment, and Boxford Village Hall, which was given £2,000 towards the cost of disabled toilet facilities.
The Friends of Pump Farm School in Assington also received £2,000 for the conversion of a storage building into a music room for young people with complex needs.
LSP co-ordinator Tim Mutum said: “All of these groups awarded money provide vital services and contribute to making sure the district we live in is vibrant and maintains a strong community spirit.
“The LSP is delighted it is able to help so many people with these grants, which have covered such a diverse range of projects.”
Since 2007, the LSP has given out nearly £60,000 in funding to community projects.
