First Friends Pre-School in Great Waldingfield begins £8,000 fundraising appeal to replace water-damaged play area

A Great Waldingfield nursery is facing an £8,000 repair bill to replace its water-damaged outdoor play surface – and is appealing to the community for help.

Youngsters attending First Friends Pre-School in Folly Road have been unable to use large portions of the play area, after the surface became cracked and severely waterlogged following heavy rainfall over the last few months.

The pre-school has now formed a fundraising committee and is appealing for individuals and businesses to contribute to the cause.

Clare Oliver, First Friends Pre-School chairman, told the Free Press: “It would be impossible for us to fund the repairs ourselves. We are a non-profit charity and we’re desperately looking for help.

“It’s having quite an impact, because this is quite a small pre-school and everyone is in one room, so it’s really nice for the children to be able to go and enjoy outdoor play. But now that space has been dramatically decreased.”
