GoStart community bus between Great Cornard and Glemsford set to be axed in February
A community transport service running between two Suffolk villages is set to be withdrawn next month, after the provider stated a lack of regular passengers made the route financially unsustainable.
GoStart announced its bus between Great Cornard and Glemsford will no longer run from Thursday, February 20.
The service had initially been set up as a trial scheme, in response to concerns from a number of people about available transport options, particularly patients needing to reach Sudbury Health Centre in Church Field Road.
John Phillips, GoStart treasurer, said: “We regret to have to advise passengers who have been using the service between Cornard and Glemsford that the service will be withdrawn.
“Very low passenger numbers have meant we are unable to cover our costs and, as a result, we cannot provide a viable service.”
The charity confirmed it is still operating other services in the Sudbury area, including Dial-a-Ride. For further information, call GoStart on 01787 242116.
