Children’s author Nick Butterworth joined Gosfield School to mark the renaming of its nursery.

Renamed Goslings Nursery and Forest School to reflect its outdoor setting, Mr Butterworth entertained youngsters with readings from his books, followed by a session of illustrations.

Year 6 students were given a writing masterclass to equip them with handy techniques to aid their weekly ‘Big Write’ challenge every Friday.

Carol Daniels, school registrar, was delighted by the visit.

“Of all his amazing characters, he is probably best known for Percy and all of his animal friends, which is why we were so keen that he should visit us to celebrate the renaming of our nursery,” she said.

“Like Percy in his park, our pupils share our 110 acres of parkland and forest with lots of wonderful birds and mammals, and fascinating minibeasts, too. It’s a perfect setting for our youngest adventurers to spend their wonder years.”
