Fuel tanker collision and spillage causes road closure in Sible Hedingham

A fuel tanker has tipped on its side in Sible Hedingham spilling 500 litres of kerosene and blocking the road.

Delvin Road in Sible Hedingham remains closed after the incident which happened at 2.21pm (January 12).

Firefighters from Wethersfield, Halstead, Maldon and Colchester attended the scene.

The fuel tanker, which was the only vehicle involved, tipped on its side and blocked the road. It was carrying 5,000 litres of kerosene.

Crews discovered that 500 litres had entered the watercourse.

The leak has been contained and the driver is in the care of the Ambulance Service.

Highways officers, the Environment Agency and Essex Police are currently at the incident scene.
