‘Free’ school ready to go

A PROPOSED new “free” school for Stoke-by-Nayland already has a headteacher lined up for the role should the school get the go-ahead by the Department for Education.

The Seckford Foundation, backing a proposal for a new 11-16 school in Sudbury Road, has appointed Rob Cawley as principal designate for its free schools at Beccles and Saxmundham, which are awaiting funding approval from the DfE.

If the Foundation’s Stoke-by-Nayland bid is successful in July, Mr Cawley, who was executive head teacher of Deben and Orwell high schools and Felixstowe sixth form, will also become principal of the proposed Stoke-by-Nayland school.
