The row between Great Cornard Parish Council and football club owner Chris Symes needs to be settled through sensible communication.
Peter Beer, a district councillor for the village, said he believed the differences could be resolved.
“What is happening is very sad and bad for Great Cornard football,” he said.
“It is unfortunate that the parish council and Mr Symes cannot continue to talk to one another.”
Mr Beer said, given Mr Symes’ long association with the club, he hoped some middle ground could be reached.
“Why it has come to this is beyond me,” he said. “There have been problems in the past, but Mr Symes has worked with numerous councils and things have always been sorted out.”
Mr Beer added that he was concerned about the cost of the disagreement.
“There is a rumour this could cost up to £9,000 and this is not a good use of council money,” he said.
