Firefighters put out blaze at block of flats in Halstead

A fire in a block of flats in Essex was extinguished by firefighters in the early hours of the morning.

Three crews were called to the two-storey building in Holmes Road, Halstead at 4.20am.

A spokesman for Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “On arrival, the ground floor property was 100 per cent alight and the top floor flat was 100 per cent smoke logged.

“Crews used two hose reel jets and one covering jet to extinguish the fire by 6.35am.

“A ventilation fan was used to clear the incident scene of smoke.”

Two fire crews from Halstead and one from Colchester attended the scene.
