AN investigation has been launched after a house was badly damaged by fire.
Eight crews battled the blaze at a house in Cherry Lane, Great Yeldham, on Friday morning.
Firefighters from Sudbury, Clare, Halstead and Sible Hedingham spent nearly four hours tackling the fire.
Crews were called to the house shortly after 9.30am following reports that the building’s roof was alight. It was finally put out at 1.20pm.
A spokesman for Essex Fire and Rescue Service said: “The roof was completely alight.
“In all, crews used four main jets, four hose reel jets, 16 sets of breathing apparatus and a water bowser to fight the blaze.”
He added that an investigation was being carried out to establish what caused the fire.
