EU VOTE: ‘Important that we work together’, says Central Suffolk MP Dr Dan Poulter
Central Suffolk and North Ipswich MP Dr Dan Poulter stressed the importance of everybody working together to achieve stability for the country, following the Leave vote in the EU Referendum.
Dr Poulter, a Conservative who supported the Remain side during the campaign, called on people to now put aside their differences, after 51.9 per cent decided Britain should leave the European Union.
“This has been a closely fought campaign and it is now vitally important that we all work together – irrespective of political allegiance, to bring about stability and calm as we move forwards,” he said.
“The EU Referendum has delivered an almost unprecedented turnout, with over 33 million people taking part.
“Here in Suffolk, and across the UK and Gibraltar, people have unanimously decided to vote in favour of leaving the European Union.”
The former Health Minister also commented on the resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron, which he stated “must have been an incredibly tough decision for him to make.”
Dr Poulter added: “I admire the dignity with which he announced his resignation – congratulating the Leave Team and celebrating Britain’s proud multiculturalism.”
