A woman in her 70s has died following a road traffic collision on the B1115 between Hitcham and Great Finborough this afternoon, Tuesday January 26.

Police were called by the ambulance service just before 2.40pm to reports of a two vehicle collision on the road about a mile-and-a-half south of Great Finborough.

A Range Rover was in collision with a Vauxhall Astra. The woman who died was a passenger in the Astra.

Both drivers – both men thought to be in their 70s - have been taken to the West Suffolk hospital. The full extent of their injuries and their conditions are not clear at the moment.

The road is currently closed in both directions and is expected to remain so for some time while a collision investigation takes place.

Police believe this stretch of road was busy at the time of the incident and are asking anyone who may have seen either of the vehicles prior to the crash or the collision itself to get in touch as soon as possible.

Any witnesses are asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Team at Suffolk Police by dialling 101 quoting reference CAD 247 of today, 26 January.
