Elderly man dies after collapsing in Long Melford

An elderly man died after collapsing in Long Melford yesterday (September 2).
An air ambulance was sent to the incident in Hall Street, Long Melford, but despite treatment from paramedics the man in his 70s died at the scene.
The East of England Ambulance Service were called at 3.59pm, with two rapid response vehicles, an ambulance and the air ambulance sent, with paramedics on the scene within five minutes.
A spokesman for the service said: “The patient, a man in his 70s, had collapsed and gone into cardiac arrest.
“Despite their best efforts sadly he died at the scene.”
