Sudbury children steal the show at Bury Festival

A SPECIAL performance from Sudbury schoolchildren wowed the crowds at Bury Festival on Friday.

A group of 24 pupils aged nine and 10 from All Saints Middle School took to the stage to perform The Rhythm of Life, a musical fusion of didgeridoo and African djembe drum music in the Abbey Gardens.

Headteacher Karen Harman said: “The children were brilliant. We had been invited following our success at Snape Maltings Festival in March.

“The children had only had three hours practice since then, but it was an exciting experience and an inspirational event to be part of.”

The school, which will close in 2013, has recently been awarded an Artsmark Gold award in recognition of the opportunities and teaching it provides to pupils.

Mrs Harman said: “It is quite a big deal – we’ve just had a strong Ofsted report and we are going to continue working hard to give them every opportunity we can until the last day.”
