Students from the Thomas Gainsborough School in Great Cornard were given a treat when they took part in a practical interior design workshop, hosted by Lindsey Rendall and Helen Wright, of Rendall & Wright interior design.
The year 10 textiles class were given a talk on interior design as a profession, took part in a question and answer session and then started work on their own mini-design project last month.
The workshop gave the pupils an insight into what it is like working in the industry and Mrs Rendall shared her expertise on space planning, textile use, colour mixing, presentation skills and the importance of building confidence.
“Helping young people develop practical skills and illustrating a possible profession they could go into is important to us,” she said.
“We know that getting on the career ladder has never been more difficult, which is why it is important that young people start developing key skills in the classroom.”
Mrs Rendall will be returning to the school to take a look through the pupil’s completed design board and to answer any more questions they have.
