New head plans for Ramsey Academy to be top of the class

Ramsey Academy’s new headteacher has said that he wants to make the school the number one choice in the Halstead area.

Rob James, who will take over as head from the departing Dan Gee in the summer, said: “I want to build on the work that Dan and his staff have done.

“The main aim is to make the school the first choice for the people of Halstead and the surrounding villages.”

Mr James said he was already planning for his new role having met with Mr Gee to discuss their views on the school.

He was also planning to visit the school several times over the next half-term to see, he said, “what is going well and what areas could be improved”.

The school was placed in special measures before Mr Gee’s arrival but has since been rated as good by Ofsted.

“If you can maintain, recruit and support the right staff then that is the foundation of a successful school,” said Mr James.
