Two men have gone on trial accused of carrying out a violent attack in which their victim lost a testicle.

The attack left Christopher Lillicrop requiring eight stitches to a head wound and resulted in the loss of a testicle, a jury at Ipswich Crown Court heard this week.

Jordan Partridge, 25, of Juniper Close, Halstead, and James Murray, 23, of Trinity Road, Halstead, deny carrying out the assault.

The two men, who admitted being at the scene, claim they were acting in self defence.

Prosecutor Duncan O’Donnell claimed that Partridge had held Mr Lillicrop, 51, in a headlock while he was repeatedly punched and kicked by Murray.

The attack in Kings Road, Halstead, on July 14, 2013, only ended when a resident was woken by noises outside her home and, on seeing Mr Lillicrop being held against the bonnet of her car, called the police.

After the woman shouted out that police officers were on their way, Murray was alleged to have said to Partridge: “Let’s go, he’s done.”

During the incident, another resident heard Mr Lillicrop shout out: “Get off me. I’ve done nothing wrong.”

When police arrived, they found the victim covered in blood. A photograph of his injuries was shown to the jury.

A surgeon who examined Mr Lillicrop said the beating he had received meant that he had lost a testicle.

Giving evidence, Mr Lillicrop said that, on the evening before the attack, he had been at a music festival and then The Locomotive public house before walking along Kings Road.

He said he had heard footsteps running up behind him before he was punched and pushed to the ground.

As he tried to get up, Mr Lillicrop said he was grabbed in a headlock by Partridge as Murray kicked him “about 20 times” between his legs.

The trial continues.
