Deputy police boss asked to step up to top role in force
Gareth Wilson has been named temporary Chief Constable of Suffolk Police.
Mr Wilson was appointed to the role this week to cover for Chief Constable Douglas Paxton, who is currently on sick leave.
Tim Passmore, police and crime commissioner, said: “Douglas is currently off sick and is likely to be for the foreseeable future.
“To cover his absence, I have asked Deputy Chief Constable Gareth Wilson to step up to the role as temporary Chief Constable with immediate effect.
“To help provide further resilience, former Assistant Chief Constable Tim Newcomb is currently providing short-term support to the chief officer team.”
