DO YOU know a young person who deserves a public thankyou, or should be recognised for a good deed or job well done?
Friday, January 13, is the deadline for entries to the Sudbury Rotary Young Citizen Award 2012, run in association with the Free Press and Waitrose.
The competition is about recognising and rewarding young people who have made a positive achievement in the town.
It could be for anything, and last week the Free Press featured four siblings who have been nominated.
Since 2007, Rebecca, Dominic, Alice and Samuel Thackeray, from Springfield Road, have given up their holidays to travel with their parents to care for boys at an orphanage in Thailand. Their nominee said young people generally get a bad press, but the four were an inspiration to youngsters.
If you know any other young people, or person, who does something to help in their community, you can pick up a nomination form from the Free Press offices in Borehamgate in Sudbury.
Information packs have already been sent to all schools and youth groups, including Scouts and Guides, and the Eden’s Project.
The initiative is run by Sudbury’s two Rotary clubs and a ceremony will be held in February or March to announce the winner.
