A football coach accused of punching an opposition player’s parent will appear in court later this month.
Former Cornard Dynamos Blues under-14s coach Mark Copping, 39, from Highview Close, Sudbury, is charged with causing actual bodily harm at Blackhouse Lane during a youth football match against Notley Youth on March 3.
He was arrested and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre, where he was released on conditional bail barring him from attending any youth matches involving Cornard Dynamos.
He is due to appear at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on May 14.
Copping, who had coached the side for two seasons, was removed from his role at the club for breaching its code of conduct.
Harvey Doherty, chairman of Cornard Dynamos, declined to comment on the matter pending the outcome of the court case.
