A third man has been arrested following the shooting of a man in Sible Hedingham.
Businessman Timothy Mardon was shot in the leg at his home during a burglary on Saturday February 6.
Two men aged 27 and 23, both from Sible Hedingham, were arrested on February 17 and were released on conditional bail until April 20 pending further enquiries.
Today, Monday February 22, a 22-year-old man from Halstead was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and aggravated burglary.
He has been taken into police custody for questioning.
Police investigating an aggravated burglary in Sible Hedingham believe they have now identified the type of weapon that was used.
Detective Inspector Rob Kirby said: “Following a detailed forensic analysis of the shot that has been recovered and the damage caused to the door we believe that a .410 shotgun was used to shoot the victim.
“We strongly believe that the men responsible for this vicious, unprovoked attack will be known to someone within the local community, and we urge anyone who thinks they may have information, to tell us what they know.”
