Sudbury Street Watch scheme relaunched

SUDBURY Police are relaunching their Street Watch recruitment drive after initial disappointment.

The previous attempt to recruit volunteers for the two-hour per month commitment fell short of the minimum requirements.

Inspector Paul Crick said: “We didn’t get enough interest. We sought volunteers from Tudor Road but did not get the anticipated interest so we have now decided to widen that to everywhere between East Street, Springlands Way and Melford Road.”

Street Watch volunteers patrol their communities, assisting police in preventing crime.

“I am fully committed to it,” said Inspector Crick. “People love it once they get into it and people like to see them doing it.”
