Patrols stepped up on street

A GREATER police presence is needed in a Sudbury street regularly disturbed by late-night anti-social behaviour, say residents.

At a town council meeting on Tuesday, people living in Acton Lane, which saw two cars torched during an arson attack in the early hours of the morning last month, said they were worried worse incidents would take place if more was not done.

One resident said: “We are concerned about what will happen next and how far this will be allowed to go before something really bad happens.”

Inspector Paul Crick, of Sudbury Police, who was present at the meeting, said it was unfortunate that the incidents usually occurred late at night, during what is always a busy period for police.

“Officers are at the town’s pubs and clubs at this time,” he said. “However, we have started deploying regular patrols to the area.”
