A GLEMSFORD man discovered carrying a knife in a supermarket car park has appeared in court.

Stewart Young, from Angel Lane, is charged with possession of a knife blade or pointed article in a public place.

The 38-year-old was arrested outside Waitrose in Sudbury on December 17 after police officers searched him and found he was carrying a craft knife.

Young appeared at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday when he spoke only to confirm his name, age and address. He gave no indication of plea.

The case was adjourned and he was released on unconditional bail to return to court on January 24.
