Four weeks and no crime

MORE than 20 villages across Suffolk enjoyed an entire month free of crime last year.

Police figures show that Assington, Hartest and Brent Eleigh were among 24 parishes in November without a single crime reported.

Dave Crimmin, clerk to Assington Parish Council, said the village had the advice of officers from Suffolk Police to thank for the anomaly.

“I think people are just listening to the good advice of police and not leaving valuables on display,” he said.

“Everybody does their best to prevent thefts and increase security, and this is a pat on the back for the community.”

Despite the figures, Mr Crimmin urged residents not to become complacent.
