Four treated by paramedics after house fire in Great Cornard

Two children and two adults were treated by paramedics after a fire broke out at a house in Great Cornard today (Thursday).

Two crews from Sudbury were called to Lindsey Avenue at 1.30pm and arrived 15 minutes later to find a fire had started in the kitchen of a mid-terraced house, with all four casualties already outside.

Both floors had filled with smoke and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus ventilated the property while the family was given oxygen until an ambulance arrived.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: “All four were checked over having breathed in smoke but declined hospital treatment. Advice was given and no further action was required.”

Both Sudbury fire crews were back at base by 2.26pm.
