Cannabis factory with £1million of plants uncovered

Three people have been charged after 1,300 cannabis plants were found by police in Long Melford.

Officers found the stash, estimated to be worth up to £1million, after executing a search warrant at a property in Withindale Lane on Friday after reports of suspicious activity.

Hoc Nguyen, 18, from Mill House, Long Melford, was arrested on Friday and pleaded guilty to producing cannabis at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday. He will be sentenced at a later date.

Hung Tran, 18, and Dung Hoangh, 22, both from Mill House, denied the charges at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and were remanded in custody until their trial at Ipswich Crown Court on July 2.

Tran was also charged with another count of producing cannabis in Warwickshire during 2011.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police declined to comment on the matter.
