RAIDERS targeted a bakery in Clare – stealing cash from the till and charity boxes – as the owner slept upstairs.
Julie Moody, who runs Hurst’s Bakery in the High Street, where she also lives, said she was totally unaware of the break-in, which is thought to have taken place between 6pm on Monday, January 17, and 4.30am the following morning.
Mrs Moody only realised she had been burgled when she came downstairs for work.
“I didn’t hear a thing,” she said. “They got in through a little window and put the money and four charity boxes in an empty flour bag.
“I’m very angry that someone could do such a horrible thing and take money that is for charity. People have put their extra money in there to help and it’s extremely annoying.”
Calls in relation to this incident should be made to Pc Richard Baker at Haverhill Police on 01284 774100 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
