County’s net speed boost

SUFFOLK is to be one of the first five counties to have widely-available super-fast broadband.

The Department for Culture, Media and Sport announced that the county will be among the first to benefit as the £44million project aims to deliver 20 megabytes per second speeds to 85 per cent of Suffolk.

The Suffolk Better Broadband Programme Board – consisting of Suffolk County Council, local businesses and voluntary enterprises – will now look at which areas should be prioritised.

A contractor, who will be tasked with delivering the project, is due to be chosen in the near future, with an overall completion date pencilled in for March 2015.
