Councillors in Sudbury will have to decide whether to fully fund an additional Pcso for the town when police funding for the current part funded Pcso ends on March 31.

After a review earlier in the year Suffolk Police changed its structure with the number of Safer Neighbourhood Teams reduced from 12 to six and a reduction in staff both front line and in admin.

A number of police stations, including Sudbury’s, also had their receptions closed as part of police cuts.

Now councillors in Sudbury will decide whether to take on the full financial responsibility for Pcso Laura Mansell.

Simon Barrett suggested discussing the funding of the role with Great Cornard Parish Council while it has been suggested that the town needs a traffic warden, with police admitting illegal parking is low down on their priorities, hoping to have the offence decriminalised.
